Eamonn Holmes is reportedly being eyed by Daybreak chiefs to replace Aled Jones as co-host of the ailing show. The presenter, who currently fronts Sky News Sunrise, may be offered a six-figure deal to join Daybreak in a bid to boost its flagging ratings. But who is going to tell Aled...?

Holly Willoughby is threatening to leave the TV show ‘The Voice’. Sources say she is  keen to sign a one-off deal to stay with ITV but the BBC – spotting she brings nothing in terms of ratings – are not too fussed if she stays or goes.

Downton Abbey will not go to war again, as the show is set to finish before World War Two. Executive producer Gareth Neame told me it will not run as far as the next global conflict, but still has a long future ahead of it.

Former Coronation Street actress Suranne Jones has teamed up with ex-EastEnders writer Sarah Phelps for a new drama set in a field hospital in the First World War. Suranne will play a nurse in the show, The Ark, alongside Oona Chaplin, Hermione Norris and Kerry Fox.

For his new ITV2 reality series Olympic diving star Tom Daley will be heading off on a backpacking trip around the globe. During the six-week show, ‘Tom Daley Takes on The World’, he will be accompanied by best friend Sophie Lee and will visit countries such as Thailand, Japan, Australia, Morocco and New Zealand.

Girls Aloud are to release a new DVD to mark their final tour and 10th anniversary. Ten: The Hits Tour will feature the pop stars’ show at The O2 arena in London. It is yet to be given a release date, but can be pre-ordered on Amazon now.

Coronation Street star Chris Fountain has said he would like to stay on the show for a while longer. The actor, who plays Tommy Duckworth, admitted he is in the dark over his future on Coronation Street. “I’m contracted until February and then my three-year deal is up,” he said. “We’ve not had any talks yet about what they have in store for me.”

EastEnders newcomer Jamie Lomas has promised that his character Jake Stone has big secrets to hide. The former Hollyoaks actor joins the Walford soap as recovering alcoholic Jake and meets Lauren Branning at a counselling session. As ever it sounds such fun, don’t you think?

JLS star Marvin Humes has told sources that he “wouldn’t say no” to joining The Voice UK. The singer commented that although departing coaches Jessie J and Danny Donoghue left big shoes to fill, he would still love to be part of such a great show.

Alex Jones, who fronts The One Show, says she would love a go at hosting Strictly Come Dancing if Tess Daly ever gives up the job. “As someone who has appeared as a contestant on the show I think I would be well placed, but who knows what can happen?” she said.

EastEnders actress Barbara Windsor has admitted that she is nervous over her return to the soap. She tells me: “I’ve got one episode and I’m looking forward to it. I’m very apprehensive and nervous because it’s been three years since I’ve done it.”

Robson Green has decided to quit the Sky One drama ‘Mount Pleasant’ as he has other work that clashes with filming. Best known for his singing turn with Jerome Flynn, he tells me: “I shall miss the team on the show but, there is nothing I can do really...”

Georgia May Foote, who plays Katy Armstrong in Coronation Street, has defended the younger members of the cast. “I think we all do a great job, and people forget that Gail and co were once the young cast members too, and developed as the years went along,” she said.

Best known for baking bread, Paul Hollywood seems to have offended the Strictly Come Dancing bookers. The basic fee for appearing is £35,000 per celebrity, but according to friends he figured he was worth a whopping £50,000 given the extra PR he would bring to the show. They decided against it...

Louis Walsh is once again trying to drum up some interest in his career by claiming he will quit X Factor after this year because: “I want to try other things and this really eats into your year ... I am 61 now so it’s a good time to try other avenues.”

Emmerdale actress Patsy Kensit has a tell-all book looming this October, and in it she plans to reveal all about her time filming with Elizabeth Taylor, Britpop and of course starring in soap. Patsy tells me: “I have held nothing back in my quest for the truth.”
