Would you really like to see Coronation Street later on at night? Bosses are keen for more latenight specials as their ratings go up, and according to my good sources: “We can be braver with our storylines and show things that we can’t in our earlier timeslot.”

EastEnders bosses have cast soap newcomer Danielle Harold to play Billy Mitchell's granddaughter in a surprise new storyline. In an unexpected twist due to air this summer, Billy and his partner Julie are left stunned as they discover they have a granddaughter they never knew existed.

It looks like Loose Women are losing their audience. ITV bosses are worried about the once popular daytime show, which is slipping off the ratings radar. Some claims it’s because the panel is everchanging while others think the show ignores what daytime audiences really want to see...

ITV reportedly declined The Voice when it was pitched to the channel a year ago, to keep Simon Cowell happy. That is now not the case – the broadcaster is bidding against the BBC to secure the rights to a UK version of the show, after it proved a hit in the US. The Voice sees four judges choose singers on their vocal abilities alone, as the judging panel are not allowed to see the acts when they first sing.

New EastEnders actor David Essex reveals that his new role “may have saved me from doing Strictly Come Dancing, I get asked every year and every year I say no, but I am weakening a bit now...”

‘So You Think You Can Dance’ is being axed by the BBC after just two series, but the show’s boss and creator Nigel Lythgoe is less than happy with the decision. He reveals: “I do think we would have suited a Friday night slot or Sunday night and we would have done better in the ratings.”

Expect a sad end of Pauline Quirke, who plays Hazel in Emmerdale. She leaves the show at the end of the year, but could that mean she ends up in prison? Insiders tell me that is the plan, as the actress wanted to move on.

Now that Al Murray has been relieved of his exclusive ITV deal, will we see the cheeky comic appear on Strictly Come Dancing this year? I only mention this as he has spoken to the producers on two occasions...

Jim Davidson has taken a swipe at Amanda Holden, Michael McIntyre and David Hasselhoff, arguing that the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel lack credentials. The former Generation Game presenter voiced his anger about TV “dumbing down” in a blog post on his official website, telling readers who were annoyed with his remarks to “disappear and watch Channel 4...”

EastEnders’ forthcoming seaside episodes set in Southend have been tipped to boost the Essex town’s visitor numbers. June Brown who plays Dot in the soap is leading the storyline, but insiders say that this will be a happy trip rather than the sad kind that normally happens with EastEnders...

Larry Hagman says that the new Dallas, which will feature him as JR along with Patrick Duffy and Linda Grey, is totally different to the old show. “It’s all about our children and grandchildren in the show ... we just hang around on the edges and smirk a lot,” he laughed.

x Factor hopefuls have been warned that they face legal action if they breach a contract which aims to stop them talking about their experience on the show. The fourpage document tells the auditionees that they must not “disclose to any person” information about the ITV1 competition, which includes talking about old judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue. And yet people still want to enter the show!

Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowell has still not signed a record deal. He reveals: “I am hopeful that after the tour I will get a chance to sit down with Simon and discuss this, but he is very busy right now with the US version of X Factor.”

Is Cruise diva Jayne Macdonald now regretting her big decision to leave lunchtime chatfest Loose Women a year ago? Jayne tells anyone who will listen she will be returning soon, but according to show bosses: “We would love to have her back but only when we have a slot that needs filling – and right now they are all taken up.” Oh dear.

Emmerdale bosses are looking to old methods to raise money in these delicate times and are planning to reissue all the old paperbacks that were published in the late 70s and 80s … a time when it was called Emmerdale Farm and featured the likes of Amos and Annie on screen!

Patsy Palmer who plays Bianca in Eastenders tells me she may go back, but it would not be fulltime. “I have a new baby now called Bertie and I am not on contract there any more,” she said. “So it’s up to the show producers, but I can’t work all those hours now, not with a new baby to look after.”

Sid Owen may have left Albert Square again as we see his character Ricky move to Dubai, but the actor tells me: “I may be back for a third time – it may be 10 years, but he is not being killed off, which is good.”
