Former EastEnders actress Anita Dobson is set to appear at the Arts Theatre in London as Joan Crawford in a new play based on her infamous battles with costar Bette Davis. Anita, tells me of her soap days: “There’s not a day goes by when someone does not mention Angie and it’s wonderful that she is so well remembered.”

Now on screen eating all those delicious desserts in the Marks & Spencer ads, actress Caroline Quentin has seen her BBC comedy ‘Life Of Riley’ shoot back into the charts for a second series. So much so that the BBC have already ordered a Christmas special too...

After winning last year’s Strictly Come Dancing former soap actress Kara Tointon has landed the lead role in a new production of ‘My Fair Lady’, which is already proving a huge hit at the box office. Charles Lawson, who plays Jim McDonald so he does, has no idea when he will return to Coronation Street. He tells me: “There is always hope while my son in the show Steve is there, but I like to pop in now and again I think things like that happen in a street, don’t they?”

ExEmmerdale actress Lisa Riley is popping up again, this time later in the year appearing in the hit play ‘Calendar Girls’. “I love the film and while I am not keen on the nudity, it’s part of the play and film, so I will just have to get on with it,” she said.

Bill RoachE, who plays Ken Barlow in Coronation Street tells me he loathes the term “veteran” when he is brought onto TV shows. “I know I have been in it from the start, but I don’t feel old and   it makes you sound ancient!” he laughed.
