Felicity Kendal is the latest actress to be approached as a new recruit for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing with Bruce & co. It looks like it will happen as the petite actress has stated: “It’s the only one I would consider as it looks so much fun..”



Charlie Lawson, who played Jim Macdonald “so he did”, is returning to Coronation Street later this year to reprise his role yet again. Charlie is currently starring in the new stage version of the show in Manchester but things might not look too bright as he is being brought back just as the tram crash takes place!



Hard to believe that Coronation Street actor Ant Cotton, who plays Sean in the show, has hit 35. He celebrated with a party on board a luxury train. Other cast members attended but he says that “I am just warming up for my 40th. I thought I would give it a trial run.”



Des O’Connor says he has no regrets about leaving afternoon quiz show Countdown which Jeff Stelling now hosts. “I enjoyed it but the time was right to move on ... I still see it occasionally but I really enjoyed working with Carol Vorderman.”


New breakfast show Day Break will still have Kate Garraway at the helm after all. Despite everyone else at GMTV being axed she trills in an interview: “I will be sitting in for Christine when she is on holiday, so I am thrilled to be still part of the team here.” The show is produced by Kate's exhusband Ian Rumsey too.



The BBC Breakfast Show is moving up to Manchester next year but not all the stars of the sofa are happy. Insiders tell me that not all have confirmed they will be going. A source reveals: “It’s going to be hugely expensive to get big stars now to come up to the North to be interviewed plus travel and hotels etc.



Alex Jones, who has taken over the female host job of The One Show, is expected to be the new female face of BBC1. An insider reveals she is also up for hosting this year’s big charity event ‘Children in Need’ alongside Jason Manford and Terry Wogan.

Ex Coronation Street actress Stephanie Beacham, who played Martha – she of the narrow boat with Ken remember? well she has just signed up to play Opera diva Maria Callas in a new stage play. She won't be singing but it’s based on her early career and life and starts to tour from October.



Ex Coronation Street actress Angela Griffin who played crimper Fiona in the show has signed on to be a regular in the new series of sleuth drama ‘Hustle’ on BBC 1 which also stars Hollywood legend Robert Vaughn.



Comedy Queen Victoria Wood has been cast in a new BBC 4 drama to play the mother of comedy legend Eric Morecambe in a new film. It will look at how his mother, called Sadie, helped shape the famous duo into international success



Darius Campbell may have won this year’s ‘Pop star to Opera star’ but the singer & reality TV veteran would also now like to be a judge too. He tells me “the show could now be coming back and I think given what I went through on the show I could make a good judge too. What do you think?”



Pauline Quirke has joined Emmerdale as Jackson’s mother Hazel but don’t expect her around for too long. Insiders tell me she is only in the show for three months. Pauline loves the role though and tells bosses she would love to ‘nip in and out’.

Nigel Havers may have left the cobbles of Coronation Street but the actor who played Lewis in the show tells me he has not ruled out a return. “He could have an attack of remorse and return the money, but I can't see it happening myself can you?”
