What a privilege to have witnessed that glorious victory in the Northern Rail Cup final.
For anyone, especially people who have supported Batley RL as long as I have, and seen the good and not so good over the years, Sunday July 18 will forever remain an outstanding day to remember.
One must obviously give a big thank you to the entire playing squad who, to a man, produced a rollercoaster of a finish to make every Batley supporter ecstatic at the end.
We shall be forever grateful to Karl Harrison for guiding this crop of young players to the heights they have achieved.
No other coach in rugby league could have achieved what he has, with the lack of resources at his disposal and having such a small squad.
But the day would not have been complete without the dedication of the board, led by Kevin Nicholas, the organisation by Paul Harrison, Ron Earnshaw and his team of helpers and the arranging of transport from the Frontier.
It was a nice gesture by Kevin and Paul to see us all off before we left.
You must now all feel so proud of what you achieved on the day – you all deserve it.
To the large numbers of supporters present at Blackpool, but who have been absent from the Mount recently, it is now time you got behind the people who made your day and start to show your appreciation at the turnstiles.
