Rapist gets 13 years...
A man of 46 has been jailed for 13 years for raping a 12-year-old girl after grooming her on the internet.
Anthony Harrison, formerly of Carr Street, Birstall, chatted with the girl for hours on the web. He called her “sexy” and bought her clothes including black frilly underwear.
Leeds Crown Court was told the pair had sex at his home some time around October 2008. The relationship was exposed when the girl’s mother found a text message.
A rape charge was brought because the girl was under 16. Harrison denied rape but was convicted. Judge Geoffrey Marson said he was convinced Harrison groomed the girl for sex.
