Sir Patrick drops in at HQ...

MIRFIELD-born actor Sir Patrick Stewart visited West Yorkshire’s fire HQ last week to mark the launch of partnership with the University of Huddersfield.
Students at the institution, where the Hollywood legend is chancellor, are to get fire and road safety advice from officers thanks to the link-up.
The university is also to provide training venues and management courses for staff at the Birkenshaw-based West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Sir Patrick visited the communications centre at Birkenshaw, had a ride in a fire engine and presented new firefighters with their training certificates.
“What a great idea this scheme is,” Sir Patrick said. “I was very impressed by the people, personalities and generous welcome I received. I have always had the greatest respect for them.”
